Privacy Policy

Short version: Nightly does not collect, store, or transmit your personal journal data to me (the developer) or to any external server. Your entries are securely stored on your device, and I do not have access to what you write.

What Nightly is

Nightly is a small SwiftUI journaling app designed to help you reflect on your day in a calm, focused way. You can write short entries, answer prompts, and review your history over time. The app is intentionally simple and private.

Data storage

Nightly stores your journal entries and related data locally on your device. This means your writing lives on your iPhone and is not uploaded to a server that I control.

• Your entries are saved only on your device.
• I do not operate a Nightly server that stores your data.
• I do not have technical access to what you write inside the app.

No accounts, tracking, or analytics

Nightly does not require you to create an account or sign in. The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking libraries that monitor how you use the app or what you write.

• No user accounts or logins.
• No in-app advertising or ad tracking.
• No sale or sharing of your personal data with third parties.

What I do not collect

In particular, I do not collect or receive:

• The contents of your journal entries.
• Your moods, tags, or any reflections you write.
• Personal identifiers tied to your entries.

Security on your device

Because your data stays on your device, it is protected by the security features of your iPhone (for example, your passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID). If someone can unlock your phone, they may be able to open Nightly and read your entries, just like any other app on your device.

For the best protection of your journal:

• Use a strong passcode on your device.
• Keep your device’s operating system up to date.

Backups and iCloud

Nightly itself does not upload your entries to a server that I control. However, depending on your device settings, your app data may be included in your regular device backups (for example, encrypted iCloud backups or local backups). Those backups are handled by Apple or your computer, not by me.

Changes to this policy

If Nightly’s functionality or data handling ever changes, I will update this privacy policy and, where appropriate, update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If major changes are made, I will aim to clearly explain what has changed so you can make an informed choice about continuing to use the app.
